Recently, I’ve chosen to recreate iconic comic art pieces that were notably appropriated by Roy Lichtenstein. While I admire Lichtenstein’s work, I find the original pieces to be richer in character and composition. My aim is to reinterpret these works in a way that retains their character, while infusing them with a more psychedelic horror style, inspired by the illustrations and artwork of White Zombie and Rob Zombie. The images I’ve recreated are sourced from David Barsalou’s 'Deconstructing Roy Lichtenstein' Flickr page, where the original works appropriated by Lichtenstein are uncovered and the original artists are credited. In reimagining these pieces, I strive to reflect my personal style and influences while still honoring the original works and their creators.
